Lodge lands in ‘Time Garden’ at Colchester General Hospital
Cadman Cranes assisted with the installation of a wooden lodge which has been placed in the Time Garden site at Colchester General Hospital, which will give end-of-life patients a place for peaceful reflection with loved ones, away from the busy hospital environment.
We carefully manoeuvred the lodge, big enough for a hospital bed to fit in, over the main hospital building in two parts before being connected once on the ground.
Being the first of its kind in the NHS, it will provide a year round privacy shelter, leaving enough space in the rest of the garden for another patient and family to sit.
Working on behalf of Colne Valley Building (CVB), using our flagship Liebherr LTM1160-5.2 all terrain 180 tonne mobile crane, we completed the lift safely and efficiently with the use of our specialist spreader beam system in place.
Medical director Angela Tillett, who made the first cut in the soil, said:
“The garden is going to make such a positive difference to our patients. They will be able to spend precious time with their family and friends in a tranquil and beautiful environment.”
