Cadman Cranes Ltd, now in its 40th year of crane operation, has purchased the LTM 1160-5.2 mobile crane to add to its fleet of 22 cranes. The LTM 1160-5.2 is the seventh crane the company has purchased from Liebherr and the largest crane in its fleet to date.

The LTM 1160-5.2 is the strongest crane of its weight on the worldwide market and has 180 tonne duty. The load capacity of the new LTM 1160-5.2 has been increased by around 20-25 % compared to its predecessor whilst the six-part telescopic boom, with the rapid action TELEMATIK telescoping system, has remained at 62 m long. The vehicle’s reduction in width from 3 m to 2.75 m means it is easier to drive on public roads and facilitates use on sites where space is restricted.

A six-cylinder Liebherr diesel engine, which develops 400 kW / 544 HP and torque of 2,516 Nm, provides the LTM 1160-5.2 with all the power it needs whilst the engine complies with the emission regulations of Directive 97/68/EC – Stage 4 and Regulation EPA/CARB – Tier 4 final in the USA.

A key benefit of the LTM 1160-5.2 is the fuel economy provided by a new single engine concept with a mechanical shaft ensuring a particularly high efficiency level whilst low engine speeds in the chassis engine provide sufficient power for crane work. Fuel consumption and noise emissions are minimised by ECOmode with the crane driver setting the required working speed and the LICCON2 control calculating the perfect complementary engine speed.
